Admission
The activities are open to all students enrolled in the courses of the University of Siena taught in English (Bachelor's Degrees, Master's Degrees, Single Cycle Master's Degrees, Doctoral Schools, Master's Programs).
Students interested in attending the lessons must complete the form accessible through the dedicated pages at the address:
- https://www.unisi.it/internazionale/international-degree-seeking-students/corsi-di-lingua-italiana (log in with the account @student.unisi.it)
Applicants will be invited to complete an entrance test (online questionnaire + possible interview) to verify the adequacy of their language level in relation to the course objectives. The number of seats is limited to 20 students per class (among those admitted, second-year master's degree students will have priority, according to the order of applications).
Attendance
It is strongly recommended to attend at least 70% of the lessons.
Methodology and teaching material
Courses are delivered conventionally (exclusively in person), for a total of 40 hours spread over 20 two-hour sessions, usually twice a week, according to the calendar published on the dedicated web pages.
Teachers are available to assist students with tutoring activities alongside the courses (bi-weekly), to be agreed upon as defined during the lessons. Those admitted to the courses will receive the teaching material (reference textbook) directly from the teachers.
Final test
Both A1 and A2 level courses have an annual final test (plus a possible recovery test) aimed at certifying the achievement of the set level of knowledge of the Italian language. Upon passing the final test, the University of Siena will award the student an Open Badge (more information at https://orientarsi.unisi.it/studio/offerta-didattica/competenze-trasversali), recognized by the university's academic offices and valuable in the job market.
Participation cost
Participation for admitted students is free (limited to 20 students per class). Students attending less than 50% of the lessons in the first four weeks will be excluded from the course and must return the teaching material.
The A2 level course provides students with linguistic knowledge useful for obtaining the PLIDA level A2 certification, recognized by the Italian State and necessary for the issuance of a long-term residence permit (the certification can be obtained by taking an external exam at authorized organizations and companies, at an approximate cost of 70 euros. More information at https://plida.dante.global).
