Aperta la call per diventare un Citizen Scientist Unisi
Per partecipare al monitoraggio del fiume Ombrone occorre l’iscrizione online:
È aperta la call per partecipare al National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) e diventare un citizen scientist dell’Università di Siena.
L’Ateneo è partner del National Biodiversity Future Center che ha come obiettivo lo studio, la protezione e il monitoraggio della biodiversità. La citizen science sarà lo strumento per coinvolgere la collettività accademica e non in attività dove i partecipanti svolgono un ruolo fondamentale nella progettazione, collezione e analisi di dati utili alla ricerca.
La partecipazione al monitoraggio del fiume Ombrone e dei suoi affluenti è aperta agli studenti e alle studentesse, alla comunità locale e a tutti gli altri soggetti interessati: i volontari contribuiranno alla raccolta di informazioni sulla qualità ambientale del fiume, analizzandone le proprietà fisico-chimiche e la presenza/assenza di specie bioindicatrici (sia vegetali sia animali).
I vantaggi che si possono trarre da questa iniziativa sono molti: l’esperienza della scienza partecipata infatti non è solo accrescimento conoscitivo per gli esperti, ma è soprattutto crescita di consapevolezza sociale. Farsi coinvolgere nel progetto significa apprendere, divertirsi, aprirsi a nuovi contatti e alle stesse realtà locali, prendersi cura di se stessi sia fisicamente, con del semplice movimento, che psicologicamente, andando a riscoprire e ristabilire il legame originario tra uomo e natura.
Per i partecipanti alle attività è previsto inoltre il riconoscimento di crediti formativi universitari (CFU).

The University of Siena is partnering with the National Biodiversity Future Center whose aim is to study, protect and monitor biodiversity. Among the activities of the NBFC, citizen science would be the means to involve the academic community and gneral public in activities where citizens play a fundamental role in designing, obtaining and analyzing data useful for research on biodiversity.
We invite the students, staff, the local community and all those interested in monitoring the Ombrone River: the volunteers will contribute to the collection of information on the environmental quality of the river, analyzing its physical-chemical properties and the presence/absence of health indicator species (both plants and animals).
The University needs you! You are all invited to take part in this initiative. You will derive many advantages from it: the experience of participatory science in fact is not only the cognitive growth for experts, but, and above all, it is the growth in the social awareness of the individual citizen. Getting involved in the project means learning, having fun, opening up to new contacts and local realities, taking care of yourself both physically, with simple movement, and psychologically, going to rediscover and re-establish that original link between man and nature.
There is also the possibility of recognizing credits for student participating in the activities.
