Anna Masecchia (Italy, 1974) defended her PhD Thesis in “Comparatistica: letteratura, teatro, cinema” at the University of Siena, where she has had a Junior Research Fellowship in “Cinema, fotografia, televisione” (2005-2008).
She currently holds (since 2005/06) a temporary position as teacher of Storia del cinema italiano at the University of Siena (Facoltà di Lettere, sede di Arezzo). She participates at Synapsis since the first edition. Her fields of research are the relationship between cinema and literature and the relationship between cinema and photography (she is currently working on Agnes Varda’s cinema). Her publications include Al cinema con Proust, Marsilio, Venezia, 2008 and several essays on Chantal Akerman, Carl Th. Dreyer, Joseph Losey and Vittorio De Sica as a screen actor.
