Synapsis grants for young scholars in Comparative Literature

The Synapsis 2009 Executive Committee, according to the priority criteria established in the grant announcement, has awarded the following eight candidates (listed in alphabetical order) a 100 euro scholarship to be deducted from the enrolment fee to the European School for Comparative Studies "Synapsis" (Bertinoro, September 6th -13th, 2009):

Compalit grants
The "Associazione di Teoria e Storia Comparata della Letteratura" (www.compalit.net) is offering 2 scholarships of 150 euros each, reserved to PhD students in Comparative Literature who are also members of the Associazione.
Applications to take part to Synapsis 2009 must be submitted within June 10th, and all prospective participants will be notified of the selection results within the following ten days.
After having been accepted and enrolled in the school, all participants who wish to apply for Compalit grants should write to chiara.lombardi@unito.it, attaching their CV and a copy of their payment of the enrolment fee (€ 100).
Deadline for applications is July 20th.
Synapsis grants for young scholars
in Comparative Literature
The Executive Committee of the European School of Comparative Studies “Synapsis 2009” is offering eight grants for participating in the next session of the School (Bertinoro, September 6th-13th, 2009).
Each grant will be of € 100.
All Italian and foreign scholars are eligible for receiving the grant, provided that:
- they are not over 35 years of age;
- have sent in their application to Synapsis 2009 and have been accepted and enrolled in the school;
- have paid the enrolment fee (€ 100) as requested to all the prospective participants by the selecting committee;
- do not expect to receive any other form of financial support.
Applications for the grant should reach the Executive Committee not later than July 20th and should be sent in by e-mail to the address synapsis2009@gmail.com.
Applications should contain:
- a short c.v. (with special mention of studies and researches done or in progress in the field of comparative literature);
- a list of publications, if any;
- the explicit statement that no other form of financial support is available for her/his participating in the 2009 session of Synapsis; and a letter of a person in charge (her/his research supervisor, Department administrator, Dean of the Graduate School, etc) who can confirm it.
The special committee for the selection of the grant’s applications, composed by the executive committee of Synapsis 2009, has established the following criteria of priority:
- The orientation towards comparative studies in the scholarly profile of the candidate;
- Distance of the home University from Bertinoro.
- The candidate’s attendance to a graduate school in Comparative Literature;
- Her/his lacking of financial support for writing a PhD dissertation
Deadline for applications: July 20th.
The candidates selected for receiving the grant will be informed by official communication not later than July 31st 2009.
