Santa Chiara, High School for PhD and Postgraduate Studies
in University of Siena, is a high qualification pole for post-graduate courses
and especially for Phd. It was set up by Education Ministry in 2004, after
a 5 years experimentation.
A Scientific Committee of external
experts recognized PhD Schoolsbelonging
to Santa Chiara as excellent, according to their degree of internationalization
and their research and educational activities. Grouped around the School,
there is a scientific community of professors and students from University
of Siena and anywhere in the world.
The Graduate School is engaged into Multidisciplinary Programmes (Pro.M.)submitted
at least by three PhD Schools; it also calls for Visiting
Chair in emerging and cross-field disciplines, thus favouring a more
flexible work both in research and scientific education.
Santa Chiara organizes common courses for PhD students as well as fostering
international
exchanges. School fellows
both contribute to educational activities held by the PhD teaching staff
and help students
in their research. The Graduate School is endowed with two residences: Collegio
Santa Chiara and the Refugio,
both placed in the city centre, conceived to accommodate PhD students at
the University of Siena, visiting research students from different Universities,
chair professors, and School's fellows.
Our residences are also intended for for
scientific conferences and workshops, as well as places for informal
aggregation.
Finally, they provide meals
and facilities for meetings and cultural initiatives.
