Studying in Siena is something special, since Siena is a special place. You will not live in a normal campus completely separated from the city but in a city which has longtime been a “natural campus” itself. Siena’s specific wealth is precisely its being friendly, comfortable and people-oriented, thanks to the high quality of life as well as to the historical and cultural wealth. Besides studying, you’ll have plenty of things to do almost all over the year: museums (Pinacoteca Nazionale, Santa Maria della Scala, Palazzo delle Papesse, only to mention those most renowned); theatres offering rich programmes (Teatro de’ Rozzi e de’ Rinnovati); cinemas and film festivals (Terre di Siena Film Festival); concerts and events (Accademia Chigiana, Jazz festival e altro ancora). Finally, you cannot miss the Palio, Siena’s main historical event which takes place in Piazza del Campo and down the old town centre. Since the end of the XVII century ten contrade (districts) take part to this horse race every July, 2nd and August, 16th, in order to win the Palio, a painted silk-banner awarded as a prize for the winner.
