A
maximum of
6
students will be admitted to the program.
Admissions will be decided after a comparative evaluation of
candidates, as specified in the Bando di Concorso (published on
Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana); what follows is a
summary of all information relevant for application.
Applicants must hold an Italian "laurea" or equivalent 4-5 years
foreign degree, or plan to be awarded such a degree not later than
the beginning of courses (i.e. October). There are no limitations on
the nationality of the candidates.
In order to apply, the candidates are required to register on-line.
All documentation must reach the Segreteria Dottorati di Ricerca,
via
Valdimontone, 1 - 53100 Siena not later than
September 5th, 2002. Alternately it can
be delivered by hand directly to the Segreteria or sent by mail.
Late comers cannot be considered, so the candidates are recommended,
in their own interest, to make use of a reliable means (e.g. a
courier or insured mail).
All the documentation can be either in Italian or in English.
The selection of candidates will be based on the examination of
the curriculum vitae and of the relevant documentation
submitted.
A good knowledge of English is a prerequisite for admission.
Soon after the evaluation procedure are
concluded, the list of admitted candidates will be compiled and made
public. In case of renunciation, the candidates who follow in the
list will be admitted. The 6 most
qualified candidates among those admitted (as resulting from the
admission list) will be awarded a grant and will be exempted from
the payment of the annual fee (see Fees and financial support).
PLEASE NOTE: If the candidate has a foreign
degree whose equivalence to the Italian laurea has not been declared
yet, he/she must provide all documents useful to allow the Board of
Teachers to declare the equivalence: i.e. a certificate with record
of all courses and grades and a declaration of value, translated and
legalized by the competent Italian representation abroad (Embassy,
Consulate...), according to the laws on admission of foreign
students to laurea degrees in an Italian University. In case these
documents don't accompany the application, the admission will be
conditional on the candidate providing them in due terms. |
