Since 1970 Ciampolini Fabrizio has been working at the University of Siena. In November 1991 and January 1993 he was involved in teaching practical lessons in two intensive courses on sexual plant reproduction organized by the European commission. His main field of research is the floral biology of economically important plants such as hazelnut, grape and rice, using optical and electron microscopes. In particular, he studies the ultra structural morphology of stigma and style and their relationship with the male gametophyte. Furthermore, the ultra structural morphology of the pollen grain and the formation of the pollen tube, particularly in relation to the localization of cytoskeletal proteins through immunological techniques, are part of his field of interest.
