SEXUAL PLANT REPRODUCTION AND BIOTECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS: RECENT ADVANCES BY MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND MORPHOLOGY

Siena (Italy), November 27-December 6, 1997

The Dipartimento Biologia Ambientale of the Siena University has a reputable experience in coordinating meetings and courses on sexual plant reproduction. Other two courses on plant reproduction have been already organized in Siena in 1991 and 1993, respectively. The previous meetings have been favorably estimated by both students and teachers for their high scientific levels. The familiar atmosphere of these meetings assures a large-scale exchange of scientific information among all participants. This Summer School, which was funded by the European Community in the framework of the Training and Mobility of Researchers, was held with the intention to allow young researchers at post-graduate and post-doctoral level to gain knowledge of the more recent insights in this field, with special attention to plant species of agronomic interest like maize, rice, tobacco, and grape. Moreover, the Summer School intended to favor free exchange of information among researchers from countries of the European Union. The Course also aims to gather young researchers from different European countries in order to train them in the organization of common projects.

A book with the proceedings form the course is in preparation and will be provisionally released at the beginning of 1999 by Springer-Verlag. Here find a list of contributors and topics. To contact teachers attending the course, please find a
list of their address.
