| Laser radiation allows cooling of atom vapors and ion beams down to very
low temperatures. Our research is devoted to improve and optimise laser-cooling
techniques, by means of broad-band laser radiation. Broadened spectrum allows
to increase the amount of particles involved in the cooling cicle, allowing
many velocity classes to ne in the resonant condition at a given time. Efforts
are devoted both to develop optical systems for spectrum broadening and
to test broad laser spectra in atom and ion cooling experiments. |
