Following the success of the first editions of “CE-Days” held in 2002 and 2004, we would like to invite you to CE- Days 2007. The Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) Advanced Course will be held in the Certosa di Pontignano, a medieval monastery located in the heart of the Chianti region, 10 min. drive from Siena, on June 11-14, 2007.
The 4-day intensive programme will feature a full immersion in various aspects of the Capillary Electrophoresis technique: theory, instrumentation, method development, validation. Lectures will be given by internationally renowned speakers, coming from all over Europe. The Course is addressed to newcomers as well as to users who want to improve their knowledge and practical expertise. Applications will include drug and food analysis, chiral separations, natural products, forensic analysis, proteins and DNA, carbohydrates, biological fluids, coupling to MS.
Practical activities, on a small group basis, will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, under the guidance of expert tutors. Each participant will have the opportunity to become familiar with CE instrumentation and applications (three Beckmann Coulter P/ACE MDQ 80 will be available).
The Capillary Electrophoresis Advanced Course is held under the auspices of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of SCI, the School of Pharmacy and the Dipartimento Farmaco Chimico Tecnologico of the University of Siena. The School is open to PhD students, scientists, potential as well as medium expert users coming from Academia, Pharmaceutical/Biotechnological Companies, and research institutions.
SCI members should send a membership certification together with the registration form. The registration fee covers all tuition, course lecture notes, accommodation in Certosa, meals, refreshments, special Course Dinner, and round-trip transfers from Certosa to the Dipartimento Farmaco Chimico Tecnologico of the University of Siena (to attend training sessions).

Problem Solving Opportunities
When registering, participants are kindly invited to submit specific questions of interest, case studies, unresolved problems (less than 200 words as a MsWord file).
A selection of questions will be discussed on Monday evening, with the lecturers and other participants. Please send your file by e-mail to Prof. Ersilia De Lorenzi (ersidelo@unipv.it) not later than April 30th 2007.
Venue and Date
The Summer School is divided into lectures which will be held in The Certosa di Pontignano and practical activities which will be performed in the Dipartimento Farmaco Chimico Tecnologico of the University of Siena.
Registration will take place from 10.00 on Monday 11 June, 2007. The School starts at 11.30 on Monday and finishes with lunch on Thursday, 14 2007.
Pre- and post-school accommodation on Certosa is available on Sunday and Thursday evenings, provided sufficient notices is given.
