The mission of the Graduate School of Education is to play a leading role in the development of education for the 21st century locally, nationally and internationally.

This will be achieved through a school which is committed to:

  • The generation and dissemination of knowledge, understanding and good practice through sustained excellence in research and scholarship of international and national significance
  • The provision of high quality, innovative initial teacher training and post-graduate professional development programmes which engage with research findings, meet the needs of participants and enhance professional learning
  • Informing educational policy and practice in a changing global society through the provision of expert consultancy
  • Building on the Graduate School of Education's inter-disciplinary research on Culture, Learning, Identity and Organisations (CLIO)
